John Louis Andrews Sr. July 11, 1949 - October 30, 2022
John Louis Andrews, Sr., age 73, of Winston Salem, NC passed away Sunday, October 30th at Forsyth Medical Center.



A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 am at City Park Church, 236 Banner Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.



Mr. Andrews was born July 11th, 1949, in Deptford, New Jersey, to the late Fredrick Andrews and Doris Potts Andrews. He was a retired realtor, loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Farris Rhumelle Lee April 23, 1938 - November 01, 2022
Farris Rhumelle Beard Lee age 84 of Winston Salem passed away Tuesday, November 1st with family by her side.



A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.



Mrs. Lee was born April 23rd, 1938, in Cumberland County to James Beard and Jessie Pearl Williams Beard. She retired from Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Farris enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Kelly Averitt Jr., her parents, and a sister Diana Lynn Behaeler.

Jay Ross March 23, 1956 - October 30, 2022
Jay Harries Ross, 66, a resident of Lexington, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022. Jay was born on March 23, 1956 to Jay C and Margaret Atwell Ross. He worked for Baptist Medical Center in Maintenance for many years, then went on to retire from Old Vineyard Behavior & Health. He also taught classes at Davidson County Community College and was a Mason. Jay was very active with the Mason’s Lodge, volunteering his time by raising funds for the Shriner’s Hospital for several years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed building and working on his various projects, traveling to the Outer Banks, and fishing with his fishing team. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jimmy Ross.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 at 6:00 PM in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 5:00 PM at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, 3377 Summerville Church Road, Denton, NC 27239.

Mary Beck Kivett February 28, 1926 - October 30, 2022
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Second Reformed United Church of Christ where she was a member with Rev. Jim Luck and Rev. Paula Wells officiating.
Visitation will be held in the church parlor from 2:30 to 3:45 prior to the service. Placement of her urn by the family will follow the service in the church Columbarium.

Mary was born in Davidson County February 28, 1926, to Percy Madison Beck and Eva Burkhart Beck.
Mary graduated from Lexington Senior High School and Ashemore Business College. She worked as a
purchasing agent for Lexington Chair, Kroehler and later Crown Wood Products. Mary had many
interests in her life that brought her joy. She loved traveling with her husband, Jay, going on Christian tour trips and dancing on Saturday night. Mary was so proud of her children and their spouses and loved spending time with them. She also enjoyed time with her church family, especially Sunday School and Circle meetings. Spending time with her neighborhood friends on Saturdays and Sundays also bought her much enjoyment. Mary was deeply loved and will be forever in our hearts and memories. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jay Kivett, brothers, Brasco Beck, Waldo Beck and Colon Beck and a sister, Faye Cherry.

Samuel L. Sims June 26, 1946 - October 31, 2022
Samuel L. Sims 76 of Lexington passed away Monday October 31, 2022, at his home. A graveside service will be 4:00 pm Friday November 4, 2022, at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Pastor Tom Gramley.

Mr. Sims was born June 26, 1946, in Johnston County to the late Jessie Glenn Sims and Georgia Burgess Sims. He was a retired Electrician. His wife Patsy Jo Hege Sims preceded him in death.

Nancy Gay Ratledge December 12, 1937 - October 29, 2022
Nancy Gay Bouknight Ratledge 84 of Kernersville passed away Saturday October 29, 2022, at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living. A celebration of life will be 4:00 pm Saturday November 5, 2022, at Oak Forest United Methodist Church conducted by Revs. Richard Carter, Dwight Cartner and Darren Alexander. The family will see friends from 3-4 pm prior to the service.

Mrs. Ratledge was born December 12, 1937, in Wilkes County to the late Horace Franklin Bouknight and Juanita Gay Ervin Bouknight. She was a retired nurse at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Her husband, John “Bill” Ratledge preceded her in death.

David Neal Curry November 01, 1951 - October 29, 2022
Mr. David Neal Curry, age 70 of Holloways Church Road, Lexington, died Saturday, October 29 at his residence. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church, with Rev. Freddie Moretz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.



Born in Davidson County on November 1, 1951, he was the son of Floyd Eugene and Lillie Wall Curry. He was a retiree from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He loved tractors, old cars, auctions and was an annual visitor of the Thresher’s Reunion. David would always help anyone out that he could.
