John Wyall Burkhart October 13, 1933 - October 26, 2022
John Wyatt Burkhart, age 89, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at three o’clock on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Beck’s Reformed Church of Lexington, North Carolina, with pastors Paul Perkins and Mark Rachels officiating and Rick Leonard as guest speaker. The body will lie in state from two o’clock to three o’clock before the service. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home on Friday, October 28, 2022, from six o’clock – eight o’clock.

Mr. Burkhart was born on October 13, 1933, in Davidson County, to Roy Hill Burkhart and Minnie Younts Burkhart. He spent his life years working as a carpenter, a farmer, and serving his church and his community. John loved his church by serving as a deacon, an elder, and a trustee. He also served on the cemetery committee. John was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and especially enjoyed cooking and selling BBQ shoulders for the class’s yearly fundraiser. From 1958 to 1980, he volunteered at the Central Fire Department and was named Fire Fighter of the Year in 1980. John served his country in Korea for two years. He was a sports fan. John cheered for the Atlanta Braves and the NC State Wolfpack. During the MLB and the NCAA basketball seasons, he stayed glued to the TV cheering on his teams. John also enjoyed playing church softball and volleyball until he said, “he was too old to play with the young boys!”

Rebecca Tomlinson King September 19, 1944 - October 26, 2022
Rebecca “Becky” Tomlinson King, 78, of Cedar Creek Rd., Biscoe, died Wednesday, October 26, 2022 after a lengthy illness. Funeral Arrangements will be announced soon.



Born in Early County, Georgia, Becky was the daughter of Collis Avnel and Ruth Belisle Tomlinson. She was a retiree from the Georgia Department of Transportation and will be missed by her furry companion, Maddie. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Tomlinson. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Community Homecare and Hospice in Troy for their loving care.

Bill Daniel Leonard January 06, 1940 - October 24, 2022
William “Bill” Daniel Leonard, 82, of Lexington, passed away Monday October 24, 2022 at his home.



The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.



Mr. Leonard was born January 6, 1940 in Davidson County to Zelma Daphne Leonard. Bill loved working on cars and was a Master Mason. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Sue Anderson Corn June 16, 1959 - October 26, 2022
Sue Anderson Corn,63, of Lexington, passed away October 26, 2022, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.



A Visitation to celebrate her life will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Davidson Funeral Home, and other times at the home on River Ridge Ln, Lexington.



Sue was born June 16, 1959, in Davidson County, to Jack Thomas Anderson Sr and Lillian Cleo Anderson. Sue was a devoted member of the church, and the church choir, and having played in the hand bell choir at church. She was Administrator Assistant with the Piedmont Correctional Facility. Sue loved to travel to the beach and doing crafts in her spare time. Her passion was her faith, church, family and especially her grandchildren, Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and brother, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jack Thomas Anderson Jr.



Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Charles “Charlie” Corn of the home; her son, Chaz Corn and wife Tabitha of Lexington; her daughters, Tracy Ward and husband Eric of Lexington; and Shiloh Vance and husband Jack of Apex, NC. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Abby Ward, Elaina Ward, Hunter Vance, and Addison Vance.

Bobby Ray Fine III December 28, 1987 - October 24, 2022
Bobby Ray Fine III, 34, of Lexington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, October 24, 2022.

The funeral service will be held by Pastor Jim Brown on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Vernon Forest Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 till 3:00 pm, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Overflow Church Cemetery.



Bobby was a Project Manager with A3 Communications in Durham. He was a deacon of his church, loved God, and was dedicated to church and his family. Bobby loved to shoot and ride motorcycles and dirt bikes.



Mr. Fine was born on December 28, 1987, in Forsyth County to the late Bobby Ray Fine, Jr, and Connie Campbell Porter. Also preceding him in death are his paternal grandfather, Bobby Fine, Sr, and maternal grandparents, Walter and Barbara Campbell.

Stanley Carter Darrow October 30, 1934 - October 24, 2022
Stanley Carter Darrow, 87, of Lexington, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022, at Lexington Medical Center.



A funeral service will be held 2 PM Friday at Davidson Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Goodman officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.



The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.



Mr. Darrow was born October 30, 1934, in Auburn, New York, to Gordon Darrow Sr. and Clara Carter Darrow. He served in the US Marines and the Naval Reserve for several years, and later retired from PPG. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon Darrow Jr., Gerald Keith Darrow, and Bruce Allen Darrow; and one sister, Eleanor Alnutt.

December 29, 1933 - October 24, 2022
LeRoy Hinesley passed away at his home on Monday, October 24, 2022 surrounded by his family.



Born in Lenoir, NC on December 29, 1933, LeRoy moved to Asheboro, in 1943 where he attended school and met Betty Lea Trogdon. On August 21, 1954, LeRoy and Betty were married at her home in Asheboro. LeRoy was drafted into the US Army in 1956 and served in the Signal Corps at Fort Gordon Georgia until 1958.



After fulfilling his military duties, LeRoy and Betty returned to Asheboro where he continued his education while working second shift as a textile trainee at Klopman Mills in Ramseur. In 1965, he was promoted to mill maintenance supervisor and relocated to the new Klopman plant in Denton.



In 1973, he acquired Johnson Hardware (rebranding as Kountry Korner Hardware - the name that remains today), and stayed until his retirement in 1995. During this time, he also reluctantly worked as a loyal helper at Wayside Florist (Betty’s business).



Always a hard working individual, LeRoy was a perpetual tinkerer, world traveler, golfer, mechanic, gardener, wood worker and jack of all trades. He was always on the move and available to help when a need arose. His passion for serving others was manifested in the countless hours he spent volunteering at Central United Methodist Church and The South Davidson Family Resource Center. LeRoy was honored throughout his life for his efforts with community based organizations including the Denton Lions Club, Second Harvest Food Bank, the South Davidson Family Resource Center (volunteer of the year in 2011), and the Town of Denton (volunteer of the year in 2006). In 2019, LeRoy was named Grand Marshal for the Denton Christmas Parade.



LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Texie Hinesley; brothers, Billy, Roland and Ernest, and son in law, David Luther.



Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Betty Lea Hinesley of the home; children, Lisa (Chuck) Merritt of Durham, Lee (Jennifer) Hinesley of Asheboro, Scott (Sharon) Hinesley of Charlotte and Blair (Jason) Luther-Davis of Charlotte and 12 grandchildren (Caroline Hinesley, Glenn Luther, Mattie Luther, Emma Hinesley, Will Hinesley, Virginia Luther, Ben Hinesley, Boone Hinesley, McKay Luther, Addison Davis, Avery Davis and Harper Davis).
