Lucy Younts Schaeffer September 19, 1934 - October 28, 2022
Lucy Younts Schaeffer 88 of Lexington passed away Friday October 28, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday November 1, 2022, at Good Hope United Methodist Church where she was a member conducted by Pastor Johnny Lord. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends Monday Night from 6-8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel.

Mrs. Schaeffer was born September 19, 1934, in Davidson County to the late Jasper Allen Younts and Sallie Craver Younts. She retired as office manager for Dr. Sidney Hood. Her husband Harold Clayton Schaeffer and a son, Kurt Allen Schaeffer both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Jasper A. Younts, Fleet Younts, Zan Dale Younts, Richard Worth Younts and sisters: Alma Rose Brock, Perry Byerly, Laura Perryman, Irene Miller and Amy Jo Hartman.

Jerry Dean Shook July 31, 1965 - October 27, 2022
Jerry Dean Shook, 77, a resident of Linwood passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022. Jerry was born to Theodore Roosevelt and Agnes Preswood Shook on July 15, 1945. He was a proud graduate of East Tennessee State University and worked most of his career in plant management for the carbide & textile manufacturing industries, as well as teaching in community colleges.



On July 31, 1965, he married the love of his life, Judy Swicegood. Jerry never hesitated or missed an opportunity to hug his family and let them know how much he loved them. He will be fondly remembered for storytelling, coaching youth sports, singing in the car, and dancing with his wife and children. Jerry loved camping and beach trips with his family. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed annual hunting trips with his dad, son, and brothers, to Wyoming and Montana.



Jerry is preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Allen Shook. Left to cherish Jerry’s memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Judy Shook, of the home; his mother, Agnes Shook; children, Angela Grubb (Tim) of McDowell County, Donna Hendrix (Ricky) of Tyro, and Eric Shook (Krissi) of Advance; grandchildren, Ashley Waters (J.J.), Joshua Grubb, Chesney Shook, and Jackson Shook; great-granddaughter, Ellie Waters; brother, Garry Shook (Beth) of Avery County; sister, Judy Langley (Mike) of Wallburg; many nieces and nephews; lifelong family friends; special classmates; and beloved dog, Abby.

Stan Bingham December 29, 1945 - October 27, 2022
Former North Carolina State Senator, Stanley “Stan” Walker Bingham, age 76, of Denton passed away from natural causes at his home on October 27, 2022. Stan was a jack of many trades and lived his life to the fullest up until his last day.



Visitation will be Tuesday, November 1 from 4:30 – 7:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.



A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 11:00 am at Central United Methodist Church in Denton, conducted by Reverend Russell Brownworth. A private Inurnment will be held at a later date.



Stan was born in Clemmons, NC on December 29, 1945 to the late Edna Walker Bingham and Hal Johnson Bingham. He attended Wingate University for two years, before graduating from North Carolina State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. Following graduation, he fought forest fires in the pacific northwest and then traveled the world.

Tommy Freeman April 19, 1949 - October 27, 2022
Mr. Tommy Lee Freeman, 73, of Denton, NC passed away on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.

A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Mount Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville where he was a member. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, prior to the service, and other times at the residence.

Tommy was born April 19, 1949, in Stanly County, the son of Thomas Glenn Freeman and Viola Blake Freeman. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. Prior to owning his own taxidermy business, Tommy was previously employed with Eveready Battery in Asheboro. Tommy won multiple awards in national and state taxidermy competitions and was a Masterclass sporting clays shooter. In retirement, Tommy enjoyed camping with his wife, Jolene, at Brushy Mountain Club in Hurt, VA.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Freeman.

Paul Leon Swicegood September 15, 1942 - October 27, 2022
Paul Leon Swicegood,80, of Lexington, passed away October 27, 2022, at his home in Lexington.



A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with Ryan Mendenhall officiating, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday night at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on Old Hwy 64, Lexington.



Mr. Swicegood was born September 15, 1942, in Davidson County, to W. Paul Swicegood and Alma Koonts Swicegood. Leon was a devoted member of the church where he served on the board of directors. Loved to hunt, fish with his son and grandson, was a volunteer firefighter with Reeds Fire Dept., having over 30 years of service, and as fire chief for 7 years. Leon was a brick mason by trade with 30 years. Then retiring as maintenance supervisor at DCCC. His passion was his faith, church, family and especially his pride and joy grandson. Leon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who will be missed by all.

Larry Wayne Burris May 08, 1938 - October 26, 2022
Larry Wayne Burris, Sr., 84, a resident of Clemmons, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at his home. Larry was born on May 8, 1938, to the late William Lonzo and Ester Plyler Burris. He retired from Stroh’s Container where he was a supervisor. He loved spending time with his family, being outside, working on anything that had a motor, a challenge to fix something, finding a good bargain and playing and visiting with his great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Reep; four brothers, and a sister.



A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 30, 2022, at 4:00PM in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 3:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Clarence
Clarence “CL” Hyatt, age 82, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at his home.



A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel on Hickory Tree Road, with Pastor Wesley Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm Friday, November 4, at the Funeral Home.



Clarence was born February 2, 1940, in Davidson County to Clarence Lopp Hyatt Sr. and Zana Hiatt Hyatt. He retired from R J Reynolds and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, wife Iris Kirk Hyatt, and sisters, Virgie Parks, and Linda Cherry.



Surviving are his daughter; Abby Hyatt Fedor (John David Fedor Jr.), and two grandchildren, Mary Kathleen Fedor, and John David Fedor III.
