Cornelia Ann Britt Pope August 13, 1933 - February 25, 2021
Cornelia Ann Britt Pope, age 87 of Grayson Creek formerly of Eller Road, Lexington passed away Thursday morning at Grayson Creek.



A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in the Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel with Rev. Lomax Skinner officiating. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.

There will be no public visitation, however she will lie in state Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until funeral hour to pay your respects and sign the register.



Cornelia was born in Forsyth County August 13, 1933 to Harley Britt and Nina Flippin Britt. She was a homemaker a job she enjoyed preparing meals and raising her two sons and supporting her husband. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grady Lee Pope in 1996; son, Timothy Curtis Pope in 2009 and a brother, Harley “Doc” Britt, Jr; a sister, Dorothy Weick.

Rodney Huston Huffman October 9, 1935 - February 24, 2021
Mr. Rodney Huston Huffman, 85, of NC Highway 8, died Wednesday, February 24 at his home after a period of declining health.

A funeral service will be held at 4pm Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Stoners Grove Baptist Church, by the Rev. Billy Pearson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 2:30 to 4pm Saturday prior to the service.

Mr. Huffman was born October 9, 1935 in Roanoke, VA to Grover Marcus Huffman and Anna Laura Greenway Huffman. He retired from Associated Brokers and was a member of Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of Deacons, Brotherhood Director, a Trustee, served on the Baptismal Committee and a Sunday School Teacher. He loved to sing in the choir and had a distinct voice that could be heard over everyone. A member of Southmont Lions Club where he served as Past President and membership chairman and was a Mason. His parents; brothers, Grover Huffman, Jr, Garland Huffman, and Roy Huffman, and his sister, Pauline Ruble, preceded him in death.

David Roy Hancock October 11, 1936 ~ February 23, 2021 (age 84)
Mr. David Roy Hancock, 84 of Thomasville passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at his residence with his loving family by his side. David was born October 11, 1936 to the late Walter Hancock and Elsie Summey Hancock in Randolph County. David worked many years in the Furniture industry. He was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church. David thoroughly loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid Carolina Tar Heels fan. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Kindley Hancock; five brothers, Vinson Hancock, Wade Hancock, John Hancock, Robert Hancock, Bobby “Ace” Hancock; two sisters, Thelma Bowers, Treva Williams.

Surviving is his daughter, Deborah Gallimore; one son, Roy Bryan Hancock, both of Thomasville; one sister, Martha Faye Kindley; four grandchildren, Brandon Hancock, Brad Hancock, David Gallimore, Aiden Gallimore; five great-grandchildren, Kainin Hancock, Brielle Hancock, Natalie Hancock, Ethan Hancock and Haleigh Hancock.

Edith Hartman Ketner July 17, 1930 - February 21, 2021
Edith Hartman Ketner, 90, of Clemmons passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living.

Mrs. Ketner will lie in state from 2-4 PM on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel.

A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Grace Baptist Church, with Pastor Josh Harvey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Arcadia United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Edith was born on July 17, 1930 in Davidson County to Lonnie Oliver Hartman and Dora Eloise Hartman.

She attended Grace Baptist Church when her health allowed and enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles. She adored her grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews.

Robbie Clayton Johnson August 10, 1969 - February 23, 2021
Robbie Clayton Johnson, 51, of Linwood passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.



A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 27th at Rich Fork Baptist Church with Elders Adam North, Chris Thompson and Michael Bowers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30am until 10:30am before the service.



Robbie was born on August 10, 1969 in Davidson County to Joel Lynn Johnson and Ella Mae Ayers Dunn. He was manager and cook of Speedy’s BBQ and attended Reverence Chapel in Lexington.



Robbie was an avid outdoors man. He hunted, fished, off roaded. Nothing lit his face up more than when, Mitzi and as many family and friends as possible joined him. He is the best hugger ever. Robbie was a Fisher of Men – a disciple of JESUS CHRIST who went and made disciples of JESUS CHRIST. He loved and cared for his bride “Mitzi” the way CHRIST does for His.

Robert Craver Phelps February 08, 1935 - February 23, 2021
Robert Craver Phelps passed away on Tuesday February 23, 2021 after an 18-month battle with cancer.

Robert was born on February 8th, 1935 in Davidson County to Thomas Dittimus and Mary Craver Phelps. Robert grew up in the Reeds community with his grandparents, Walter and Effie Davis Craver. He graduated from Reeds High School in 1954, then from Elon College in 1958. He married his high school sweetheart, Ramona Lee Leonard on June 21st ,1959. The couple has three sons: Timothy Craver Phelps and wife Rhonda Hall; Todd Leonard Phelps and wife Jill Madras; and Michael Johnson Phelps and wife Elaine Williams, and four grandchildren, Mallory Craver, Kathryn Davis, Logan Reed and Chloe Bree Phelps. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Perry Leonard, wife Jeanne and niece Heather Martin. Mr. Phelps was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kay and half-brother Tom.

Robert had the heart of a servant which was reflected throughout his life and career. He enjoyed helping people find meaningful jobs through his 24 years at the Employment Security Commission, the last eight years being at Davidson County Community College. While there, he was an advisor to the Student Government Association. Robert was also a scout leader for Troop 200 for over forty years at First United Methodist Church. During that time, he received the Silver Beaver award, which is the highest award given to a Scout leader. He was also able to attend Philmont Scout Ranch with his sons. He was very proud of the fact that all three of his sons were Eagle scouts.

Daniel Christian Byrd February 07, 1982 - January 28, 2021
Forever in our hearts

Daniel Christian Byrd, 38, of New Port Richey, FL, passed away on January 28, following a courageous three year battle with cancer.

Due to the Covid Pandemic, a private family celebration of life will be held 2pm Sunday, February 28 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel and livestreamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome.

He was born February 7, 1982 in Mecklenburg County. Daniel was a Golf Professional in North Carolina and Florida and a former member of PGA. His love of golf began in middle school and one of his greatest loves was holding golf clinics for children. He was of the Baptist faith. His maternal grandparents, Joyce C. and Virginia D. Hughes, and his paternal grandparents, William (Bill) and Reba B. Byrd, preceded him in death.

Daniel loved his family deeply and is survived by his parents, Charles M. and Cathy Hughes Byrd;his sister, Dana Kistler and husband, Mark; nieces and nephews, Madison, Mackenzie, William, and Mason; his brother, David Byrd and wife, Tisha, and nephew, Gavin; his aunt, Rilda Everhart and husband, Raeford; his cousin, Doug and his children, Andrea, Kasey, and Emilee; his aunt, Pat Dunning and husband, Buck, and cousin, Cole; his uncle, Jimmy Byrd and wife, Melodye; as well as many extended family and friends.
