Nicholas Reid Varner December 01, 2003 - October 11, 2021
"Our bright soul and beloved son Nicholas "Nick" Reid Varner, 17, of Thomasville, lost his fight against mental illness on Monday, October 11, 2021.

To say that Nick was kind is a vast understatement; he wasn't just the kind of "kind" that most mothers brag about their sons, because he embodied the notions of compassion, consideration, thoughtfulness and understanding. From the moment he first spoke to you he made sure you knew that you were the most important and precious being in the entire universe. He had more empathy in a single golden hair on his head than most people have the capacity to show in a lifetime and he loved with an abandon mostly seen only in small children and newborn creatures. He woke up each morning with one mission in mind: brightening someone's day, whether it be to call his stepdad with a terrible joke, to tell his girlfriend she was beautiful for the 100th time in an hour, or to just be the generally lovable goofball he was. He was a loyal friend who never met a stranger and would often stop to help the elderly reach something from the tallest shelf in the grocery store or buy a cheeseburger for a homeless person in a parking lot.
