Patty Phelps November 21, 1932 - October 13, 2021
Patty Walser Phelps, 88, a resident of Welcome, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. Patty was born on November 21, 1932 in Davidson County to the late Wade Arlin and Kate Shoaf Walser. She worked for Wachovia Bank for many years and then went on to retire from the Post Office in Welcome. Patty was a longtime member of Bethesda United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed going on trips with the Lay Witness Mission. She also volunteered for the Outreach Ministries in Welcome. Patty loved her family, especially her grandchildren, immensely. She will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Arnold Phelps, Sr., and three brothers, Bill, L.V., and Melvin Walser.
A funeral service will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11:00AM at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Private interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday evening from 6-8 PM at Davidson Funeral Home in Winston-Salem.

Patty is survived by her children, Rick Phelps of the home, Patricia Hudson (Kenny) of Thomasville, Jeff Phelps (Lisa) of Lexington, and Mike Phelps of Welcome; twin brothers, Toby Walser and Talbert Walser (Carolyn) of Lexington; a sister, Doris Adkins of Welcome; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
