Mardie Swicegood Broadway January 12, 1945 - September 23, 2023
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Center Church of Welcome 186 Center Church Road Lexington NC 27295, where she was a life-long member and also a member of the Goodwill Sunday School Class, with Rev. Mitch Wilson officiating services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Saturday September 30, 2023 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.



Mrs. Broadway was born January 12, 1945 in Davidson County to Arlie Clifton Swicegood and Margaret Tilmont Leonard Swicegood. She enjoyed quilting, watching hummingbirds, baking and loved her grandchildren. She was owner/operator of Broadway Daycare for 40 plus years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald “Don” Eugene Broadway and a son, Donald Broadway Jr.



Surviving are three sons, Alan Broadway (Tammy) of Thomasville, Dru Broadway (Christina) of Lexington and Ross Broadway (Zachary) of Winston Salem; 3 grandchildren, Mason Broadway, Hayden Broadway and Milo Broadway; and a sister, Kathy Kepley of Welcome and numerous nieces and nephews.

Celina
Celinda Sue “Cindy” Blackburn Oakley, 67, of Lexington, passed away September 23, 2023, at her home in Lexington.



A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joshua Whitman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, and burial will follow in the Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.



Celinda was born December 28, 1955, in DeKalb County Ga, to Donald Blackburn and Barbara Jean Greer Blackburn. Celinda was of the Baptist faith. Her passion was her faith, family and especially her grandchildren. Celinda loved going out to eat and spending time with family and was known for her joking personality. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Billy Blackburn and sister, Debora Sue Blackwell.

Wadine Gallimore Hughes May 29, 1937 - September 21, 2023
Wadine Gallimore Hughes, 86, of Yates Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 27, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

Wadine was born on May 29, 1937, in Davidson County, NC to Ervin Wade Gallimore and Annie Lou Parker Gallimore. She had been employed with Burlington Industries working in the spinning room and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lindsay Hughes, a son, William Scott Hughes; brother, James Von Gallimore; and a sister, Susan Varner.

Survivors include sons, Lindsay Wade Hughes, Daniel Leon Hughes, Mickey Alexander Hughes, Thomas Ricky Hughes, and Allan Michael Hughes; daughters, Rita Ann Hedrick, Beverly Hughes Macias, and Melody Jean McFayden; sisters, Sara Irene Gallimore Miller and Elsie Workman; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of daughter, Beverly Macias.

Don Plummer, Jr. November 07, 1946 - September 18, 2023
OBITUARY
Don Anderson Plummer, 76, formerly of S. Main St., Denton, NC passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A private memorial service will be held.

Mr. Plummer was born November 7, 1946, in Davidson County, NC the son of Don Plummer, Sr., and Hollan Wright Plummer. Don was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had earned his associate degree and was a former officer with the Denton Police Department and he retired from being a Truck Driver.

In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Plummer.

He is survived by his 2 daughters, Sara Grubb and husband Wesley of PA and Kimberly Plummer of Denton.

Mazie Troutman August 25, 1930 - September 20, 2023
Mazie Jane Walser Troutman, a beloved resident of Rowe Road in Lexington, peacefully passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at the age of 93. Her family and friends mourn her passing and celebrate a life rich with love, compassion, and devotion.



A funeral service to honor her memory will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Davidson Funeral Home. The Reverend Misty York will officiate the services. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Memorial Park.



The family will be available to receive friends on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 5 pm until 6 pm at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. Mazie Jane Walser Troutman was born on August 25, 1930, in Davidson County, North Carolina, to her loving parents, Homer Howard Walser and Lether Jane Shoaf Walser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard Walser, Richard Walser, and Larry Walser; a sister, Lucille Kirk; brothers-in-law, Tommy Weaver, and James Kirk; and three sisters-in-law, Ruth Walser, Shirley Walser, and Malinda Walser.

Marcus Berrier Stokes October 07, 1953 - August 25, 2023
Marcus Berrier Stokes, 69, of Lexington, NC, passed away unexpectedly on August 25, 2023 of natural causes.

Marc excelled at anything he put his mind to - he held a 5th-degree Master Level black belt in taekwondo, was licensed by the FAA as an Airline Transport Pilot, and was a musician. He continued to honor his family by upkeeping an operating farm.

Marc is preceded in death by his parents, Gurnie and Mary Stokes, and son, Ian Stokes. He is survived by his daughter, Brittney Stokes of Durham, NC.

A celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church. Visitation with family will start at 1:30 p.m. and be followed by a service at 2:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions in remembrance of Marc may be made to the charity of one's choice.

The staff of Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the Stokes family during this difficult time.

Mattie Lee Compton January 30, 1930 - September 19, 2023
Mattie Compton, born on January 30, 1930, in Forsyth County, NC, peacefully passed away on September 19, 2023, at Grayson Creek Assisted Living in Lexington, NC. She dedicated her life to her family, her career, and her community, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and hard work.

Mattie's professional journey led her to a fulfilling career in Human Resources at Davidson Water in Lexington, NC, where her dedication and leadership made a lasting impact. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family.

She is survived by her beloved brother, Bill Edwards, and by her four cherished sisters, Eva Mae Williams, Shirley Roberts, Kay Rudisill, and Bobbie Jo Harper, along with Bobbie Jo's husband, Steve. Mattie's memory will be forever cherished by her five grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also remembered by her brother-in-law, Mike Smith.

Mattie is preceded in death by her parents, William Leroy Edwards, Sr., and Viola Mae Glascoe Edwards, as well as her loving husband, Clyde Walter Disher, Sr. She is also reunited with her second husband, Raymond "Rooster" Mason Compton, her son, Clyde "Sonny" Walter Disher, Jr., and daughter, Vickie Ann Disher Wooten. Mattie joins her siblings in eternal peace, including brothers-in-law, Richard "Buck" Williams, Harold Roberts, Don Wilhelm, Lonnie Bragg, Robert Rudisill, sisters, Margie Wilhelm, Sylvia Bragg, and Jackie Smith. She is also reunited with her sister-in-law, Lynn Edwards.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Mattie's life will be held at Arcadia Village Church on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 4 p.m. Pastor Logan Wooten will officiate the service, with a one-hour visitation period for friends and family prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mattie's name to Arcadia Village Church at 117 Blvd. Road Clemmons, NC 27012, or Grayson Creek Assisted Living at 6781 Old US Highway 52 Lexington, NC 27295.
