Barbara Rowley Wiggins May 03, 1923 - December 04, 2022
Barbara Rowley Wiggins, age 99 of Abbotts Creek Care formerly of Sidney Street, Lexington passed away Sunday afternoon December 4, 2022 at Abbotts Creek.

She requested her body to be donated to Wake Forest University School of Medicine. There will be no visitation or public service. The cremains will be inurned in the Columbarium at Salisbury National Cemetery.

Barbara was born in Everett, Washington on May 3, 1923 to Glenn I. and Ruth Gerber Rowley. She married George D. Wiggins who worked in the plywood industry. They lived in several states and settled in North Carolina. Barbara had several jobs in her lifetime, but her most rewarding was being a wife and a mother to six daughters. She was a member of Trinity united Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 2008; her sister Peggy Lane and a great-grandson, B.J. Upton.

She is survived by her daughters; Cathee Hoovler of Cross City, FL, Glenna Wiggins of Wadesboro, NC, Jann Holcombe of Temple Terrance, FL, Susan Lloyd and husband Vernon of Lexington, NC, Wendy Galloway and husband Bill of Johnson City, TN and Mary Fralix and husband Joseph of Gibsonville, NC, 14 Grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Mark Dewyane Caulder August 09, 1977 - December 04, 2022
Mark Dewayne Calder, 45 of Anthony Drive in Lexington, passed away Sunday December 4, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Lexington.



A Memorial service will be held at a later date.



Mark was born August 9, 1977 in Scottland County to James Dewey Caulder and Sudie Lee Kelly Caulder. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby Caulder and James Caulder Jr.

Jack Brantley Merritt September 25, 1936 - December 03, 2022
Jack Brantley Merritt, 86, a resident of the Welcome Community, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Olin Village Assisted Living. He was born in Davidson County to the late Clyde Roosevelt and Winnie Ellen Everhart Merritt on September 25, 1936. He worked for AT&T Communications for many years. Jack was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, he always had a positive outlook and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed fixing things and was an animal lover, especially his dogs. Jack was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Merritt; and his sister, Peggy White.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00PM. Donald Phillips Harrison February 26, 1933 - December 03, 2022
Donald Phillips Harrison passed away on December 3, 2022, in Davidson County, NC.

He was born on February 26, 1933, to Beatrice Cranford Harrison and Cecil Albert Harrison in High Point, NC. A lifelong passion began as a boy raising dogs and hunting with his father and brother (Kent).

He earned a reputation as an outstanding varsity baseball player during his four years at High Point High School. Upon graduation in 1951, Coach Simeon offered Don an assistant coaching job. That year he also won the top award in mathematics.

Instead of joining the coaching staff, Don accepted a full-time job in 1951 with Dr. McClain, a veterinarian in High Point.

In 1953, he was drafted into the United States Army selecting the infantry division in El Paso, Texas. While in the army, he played the baseball position of short stop for several minor league baseball teams and was offered a contract with El Paso Diablos. He declined the contract and headed home to High Point where his fiancée, Mary Willard, had just completed her training as a Registered Nurse. He was honorably discharged from the army in February 1955. His mother was overjoyed that the Korean War had ended two weeks before Don was scheduled to fly to Korea.

Daniel Noah Lewis September 20, 1958 - December 01, 2022
Daniel Noah Lewis, 64, of Davidson County, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at his home.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home.

Daniel was born on September 20, 1958, in Greenbrier County, WV to Mr. Harold Lewis and Ms. Anna Rudd Keene, and was raised by Anna and LC Keene. For most of his life, he worked as a machinist for CPM Wolverine Proctor. He was proud to have roots in West Virginia, enjoyed watching the Colts play football, and was known to love cracking open a cold Budweiser. Daniel is preceded in death by his dad, LC Keene.

Gloria Jean Michael March 27, 1945 - December 02, 2022
Gloria Jean “Jeanie” Abrams Michael, 77, of Lexington, passed away December 2, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 9, 2022, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Alan Green officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church sanctuary and at other times at the home on Becky Hill Rd., Lexington.

Jeanie was born March 27, 1945, in Gastonia NC. To Merrill J. Abrams and Lillie Mae Hayes Abrams. Jeanie was a devoted member of the church who loved the Lord and sharing her love for the Lord to others by singing Gospel Music at her church and outside the church. Jeanie spent most of her youth on Erlanger before moving to different areas of the Southeast. While living in North Myrtle, she would love to shag the night away dancing to classic beach music. She retired as Vice President in the banking industry. Her passion was her faith, church, family and especially her grandchildren. Jeanie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John (Johnny) Abrams.
