Ryan Drake Russell December 10, 1965 - July 07, 2023
Ryan Drake Russell, 57, of S. Main St., Denton, died Friday, July 7, 2023 in High Point. Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Sandy Young officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday, prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.



Drake was born December 10, 1965, in Davidson County, the son of James Foy and Sylvia Morris Russell. He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, James Kip Russell.



Drake is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Blair Russell of Denton; mother, Sylvia Morris Russell of Denton; brother, Garrison Russell of Denton; sister, Cheree Loflin (Dennis) of Denton and a niece, Callan Loflin.

John Raymond Coppley, Jr. April 30, 1932 - July 08, 2023
John Raymond Coppley Jr, 91, of Davidson County, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at his home.

A funeral will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, Lexington, with Pastor Craig Bartholomew officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Salisbury National Cemetery located at 501 Statesville Blvd. in Salisbury, NC.

The family will receive friends 6- 8 PM Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the funeral home, and also immediately following the committal service at the Coppley residence.

John was born on April 30, 1932, in Davidson County, to the late John Raymond Coppley Sr. and Blanche Copela Yarbourgh. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, and toured thirteen different countries, living for a time in Germany and Iran; after twenty-one years, he retired from the Army as a Lt. Col. After retirement, he worked for Lexington Furniture. He was a member of Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church. John loved to horseback ride and trail ride with his father; and he loved to fish. He enjoyed spending time on Oak Island with his family and was a beach goer. John took pride in his land and the horses and was a former director of the American Morgan Horse Association. John and his wife Joyce truly built a beautiful life together.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 36 years, Joyce Metters Coppley, of the home; son, John Wesley Coppley and wife Meg, of Clemmons; daughter, Anne Coppley Prudente and husband John, of Greensboro; sisters, Alice Long, of Fl, and Olive Stutts “Punkin”, of Oak Island; and six grandchildren, John Prudente and wife Natalie, Michael Prudente, Evan Prudente, John Coppley, Heather Parker, and Rebecca Coppley; 3 great-grandchildren, Maddy, Marion, Owen; fur baby Heidi; and the Metters family and extended friends.

David Roger Hutchens March 24, 1945 - July 09, 2023
David “Slick” Roger Hutchens, 78, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Hospice of Davidson County.



No formal services will be held at this time.



Mr. Hutchens was born March 24, 1945, in Davidson County to Roger “Bud” Hutchens and Agnes Hutchens. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Godwin Hutchens; three brothers, Larry Hutchens, Kenneth “Red” Hutchens, and Terry “Bo” Hutchens; four sisters, Violet Black, Linda Harris, Rita Laws, and Debbie Harrison.



Left to cherish his memory is one son, David Hutchens (Idaina) of Charlotte; one daughter, Lisa Hutchens Curry (Roy) of Lexington; one brother, Barry Hutchens (Barry) of Lexington; and five grandchildren, Nolan, Dylan, Lucas, Tyson, and Logan. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Chucky Gallimore June 14, 1954 - July 07, 2023
Mr. Chucky Ray Gallimore, age 69 of Denton Road, Denton, NC died Friday, July 7 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC



A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, July 13 at the Southern Theater and Event Center in Denton with Rev. Ken Reams.



Mr. Gallimore was born June 15, 1954 in Davidson County to James Ray Gallimore and Bettie Perdue Gallimore He had worked as a mechanic in small engine repairs.



He is survived by his wife, Renee Carrick Gallimore of the home, his mother Betttie P Gallimore of Denton; brother Jason Gallimore of Lexington; sisters Kathy Sain and husband Gene and Carolyn Harrison and husband Dennis all of Lexington nephews Isaac Sain, Benjamin Harrison and Zachary Harrison; nieces Kristian Sain and Meredith Sain; several great nephews and nieces and a special great niece Allison Sain.



Memorials may be made to the High Rock Cowboy Church, 248 Buie Road, Denton, NC 27239 or Hospice of Davidson County, 202 Hospice Lane, Lexington, NC 27292.

Loretta Truitt Burton March 11, 1941 - July 06, 2023
Loretta Yvonne Truitt Burton, age 82, of Thomasville, passed away July 6, 2023, at Hospice of the Piedmont.

Funeral will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 2 o’clock, at Pilgrim Reformed Church in Lexington, NC, with Pastor Richard Moore officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

Loretta was born on March 11, 1941, in High Point, NC. She is the daughter of the late David Pierce Truitt and Edith Elizabeth Ward Truitt.

Loretta was known for her kindness. She enjoyed conversation and always greeted people with a smile; she never met a stranger. She always found the positive in any situation; she was a selfless woman and greatly loved her family, children, grandchildren, and her church. She loved dinners and celebrating holidays with family and looked forward to the Ward Family Christmas party every year. Loretta loved traveling and going to the beach. She also loved a good movie and was an avid Tar Heel fan.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, of 66 years, Larry Burton of the home; sons, Scott Burton (Melanie) and Rodney Burton (Lee Ann), daughters; Angela Burton (Kevin), Melinda Burton, brother, David P. Truitt, Jr., sister, Shirley Erath Conrad (John), Grandchildren; Riley, Rory, Josh, Roarke, Meredith, Kate, and Sawyer.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers and healthcare providers and staff who have aided in her care, especially the High Point offices and Hospice House.

Kevin Brent Shelton Sr. September 06, 1954 - July 05, 2023
Kevin Brent Shelton, Sr., 68, of Lexington passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his home.



A memorial service will be held at a later date.



Kevin was born on September 6, 1954, in Lawrence County, Indiana to Orville Winford Shelton and Lois Evelyn Craig Shelton.



Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Keith Shelton and sister, Karla Lorraine Daniels.



Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Shania Shelton of Denton, NC, and his son, Kevin Brent Shelton, Jr. of Trinity, NC; brothers, Neil Shelton of West Virginia; sister, Lisa Shelton Nickels of Ohio; grandchildren, Laya Shelton, Dominique Peterson, Koda Shelton, and Amity Shelton.

Rachel Jean Norman Semones, 74, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

A funeral will be held Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 6:00 PM at the Lexington Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Mark Rachels officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Memorial Cemetery, Monday, July 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM.

Rachel was born on July 29, 1948, to the late Rosie Ella Norman in Davidson County.

Rachel loved the beach and travel, she also loved to bargain shop, country music, and had a huge sweet tooth, most of all she loved her family. Along with her mother, she is preceded in death by her siblings; Lynn Yokely, Henry Johnson, and Vicki Johnson.

Left to cherish her memory is her sons Darrell Briggs and his wife Linda and Chris Briggs and his wife Jennifer, all of Lexington; brothers, Curtis Norman (Barbara Sue), Teddy Ray Johnson (Libby), Tim Johnson, Gary Briggs; sister, Ann Stafford; grandchildren; Zach Briggs (Emily), Casey Briggs, Karly Briggs, Marissa Heitman (Jordan), CJ Briggs, Destinie Radford, Colton Briggs; and one great-grandchild, Silas Briggs.
