Shirley Mae Ryder November 03, 1927 - October 13, 2023
Shirley Ryder, age 95 of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side. She was born on November 3, 1927, to her loving parents, John Lewis Hill, and Martha Scarberry Hill, in McDowell County, WV. Shirley was very dedicated to her career of 45 years at Lexington Hospital, retiring at the age of 85, and was of the Baptist faith, and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.



Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Odis Marvin Ryder, daughter Tracy Ryder, stepson, Robert Ryder, brother Andy Hill, wife Ruby, brother in-law Tommy Ryder, sister in-laws, Lucille Allen, Christin Rowe, Bernice Leonard.



She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Stutts and husband Paul of Lexington, N. C., 3 grandchildren: Jake Adkins (Emily), Jacob Stutts, Nicholas Stutts, 1 great-granddaughter, Sylvie, sister-in-laws, Juanita Yates, Hazel VunCannon.



A funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, with pastors, Danny VunCannon, and Doug Rowe officiating. A burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Lexington, N. C.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to; Amedisys Hospice Home Health Care, 1630 Liberty Drive Suite 100, Thomasville, NC 27360, or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.



Shirley will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and fierce dedication, known as a warrior to her family, friends and community. She also loved sports, especially being a big Duke Basketball fan, and bowled for the Coble Dairy Bowl team. May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.

Jeanie Cross Byerly May 16, 1931 - October 11, 2023
Jeanie Cross Byerly, 92, of Lexington, passed away October 11, 2023, at Hinkle Hospice of Lexington.



A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 am Monday at Holly Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Danny Leonard officiating.



Mrs. Byerly was born May 16, 1931, in Davidson County, to Peter Lee Cross and Nancy Marie Hulin Cross. Jeanie was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was retired from Duracell and a member of American Legion Post 8 Ladies Auxiliary. Her passion was her faith, church, family,

especially her grandson. Jeanie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Benjamin Byerly who died December 4, 2011, sisters, Blanche Painter, Edna Palmer, Madeline Cross, Mary Harvey, Louise Kimbrell, Etta Belle Burkhart, Janet Burkholder Evelyn Mayes, Olive Boyd, brothers, James Cross, Edward Cross, Joe Cross, and Jay Cross.



Left to cherish her memories are her son, Tommy Wayne Byerly, daughter, Dora Byerly Hufton and husband John all of Lexington; grandson, Nicholas Brent Byerly wife Meranda, three great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Addisyn, and Ava, all of Lexington sister, Betty Earwood of Murphy, NC

Brenda Carol Kennedy August 05, 1948 - October 12, 2023
Brenda Carol Belcher Kennedy, 75, of Lexington, passed away October 12, 2023 at her home.



Brenda was born August 5, 1948 to Harland and Gene Sexton Belcher in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Woodrow Wilson Kennedy Jr., son, Little Wendell Kennedy and daughter Kimberly Kennedy.



Left to cherish her memory are her sons Woodrow Wilson Kennedy III (Tonya) of Wilkesboro and Wendell Kennedy (Kelly) of Lexington, daughters; Angel Morgan (Benny) of Archdale and Haley Kennedy of Sanford, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Allan E. Thompson June 14, 1942 - October 11, 2023
Allan Eugene Thompson, age 81, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away on October 11, 2023. He was born on June 14, 1942. Allan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a cherished member of his community.

A service to celebrate Allan’s life will be held at Paul’s Chapel Reformed Church at 5pm Friday, October 13. 2023, by the Reverend Aaron Long. Following the service, there will be a private family celebration at the Paul’s Chapel outdoor chapel and columbarium.

Allan was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Thompson, parents Darlin Lee and Margaret Thompson and four brothers - Hugh, Bill, Irvin and Larry. Allan is survived by two brothers, Don Thompson (Ann) of Monroe, Terry Thompson(Erlene) of Myrtle Beach and a sister Barbara Leffew (Freelan) of Tennessee, and innumerable nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a daughter Tammy Carhart (John) of Lexington, and son Chris (Aprile), also of Lexington. Allan was a proud and devoted “Papaw” to his four adult grandchildren Zach Eller, Kaitlyn Carhart Berrier (Clay), Nathan Thompson and Kinley Thompson as well as great granddaughter Adelae Berrier and his step-grandchildren, Eric Carhart (Heather) and Brandie Curlee (Jordan) and their children, Luke and Lincoln Carhart and Finleigh Curlee.

Allan loved God, family and his Davidson County community. He was a faithful member of Paul’s Chapel Reformed Church in Lexington. He was a member and leader of the West Lexington Lions Club throughout his adult life.

Victoria Otilia Vazquez Lopez, 87, formerly of Burkhead Lane, Biscoe passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living.

Victoria was born on December 11, 1935, in Teneria, Tejupilco Mexico the daughter of Luis Vazquez and Carlota Lopez. She was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are her daughter, Gabriela V. Marquez and her husband Angel F. Marquez; 3 grandsons, Ricardo, Rafael, and Eduardo Marquez; and a great-grandchild, Romina Marquez Jaimes.

Vivian Haywood Perry November 12, 1950 - October 09, 2023
Vivian Carol Haywood Perry, 72, of Perry Drive, Candor, died Monday, October 9, 2023 at her residence. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Billy Glover officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.



Born in Montgomery County on November 12, 1950, she was the daughter of William Rankin and Lannie Haywood Haywood. Vivian was and X-Ray secretary for 30 years at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital and then at FirstHealth Moore Regional for 9 years. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, which she loved dearly. She enjoyed working with the music at her church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years and the love of her life, Leslie Thomas Perry in 2021, a brother, Wyman Rankin Haywood, sister-in-law, Gloria Short Haywood and a nephew, Jeremy Scott Haywood.



Vivian is survived by a son, Leslie Thomas Perry II (Melisa) of Asheboro; 2 daughters, Carol Anne Perry Baker (Frank) of Candor and Robin Perry Smith (Anthony) of Concord; brother, Truett Haywood (Barbara) of Mt. Gilead; her 4 adored grandchildren, Brandon Baker (Maddie), McKinley Baker, Morgan Smith, and Nicholas Smith; her much beloved nieces and nephews, Wyman Haywood, Jr. (Teresa), Lynn Haywood (Nelle), Kathy Dennis (Charles), Billy Haywood (Mandy), Trudy Saunders (Jeff), Michelle Austin, Tanya Bostic (Kenny), Mark Perry, Jason Perry (Joy), Jonathan Perry, Kristen Moxley (John) and Lauren Hight.

James Franklin Perdue November 23, 1939 - October 07, 2023
James Franklin Perdue, 83, formerly of NC HWY8 Denton, NC passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Grayson Creek Assisted Living.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Perdue was born November 23, 1939, in Davidson County. James had been employed with Burlington Industries, Ultra-Mek, and did mechanic work. He enjoyed playing and building Martin guitars and was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding James in death was his father, Ed Perdue; mother, Morona Bean Bailey; and brother, Cleo Bailey.

He is survived by his very close friend, Reva Tucker; son, Ray Perdue; daughter, Sharon A. Perdue; brothers, Grayland Bailey and Dennis Bailey; sisters, Pansy Osborne, Renee Rogers, and Bettie Gallimore.
