Ralph Parks Bailey, Jr. January 15, 1958 - October 24, 2021
Ralph Parks Bailey, Jr., 63 of Leland, North Carolina went to be with Jesus Sunday, October 24, 2021, after spending his final moments with his wife.
He was born in Davidson County January 15,1958 son of Ralph Sr. and Mary Allison Martin Bailey. He was employed at Ralph’s flowers and Gifts in Lexington, North Carolina. He worked alongside his father before moving to Leland, North Carolina and while in Leland he worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant and Med-tech in New Hanover and Brunswick country before having to leave work due to disabilities. He grew up and was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ in Lexington, North Carolina. After moving to Leland, NC. he and his family became members of First Baptist Church of Leland for 10 years and later members of First Baptist Church of Wilmington, North Carolina for 16 + years. He loved his church. He chose the church himself and he said it reminded him of his home church. After attending and meeting Reverend Mike Queen, he said he knew God had sent him there! Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walker Martin and Cornelia Conrad Martin, J.C. and Bronette Tysinger Bailey. His parents, aunts and uncles 1st cousins, and three second cousins.

Survivors include: his wife-Lorie Ann Deaver Bailey of Leland, N.C., Daughter-Jennifer L. Taylor Thomson, son Mitchell G. Taylor Jr. (Holly) granddaughter-Elizabeth-Ann Juliet Thomson and mother in law Barbara C. Deaver all of Leland, North Carolina. Brother- Martin Bailey of Lexington, brother-in-law Charles R. Deaver Sr.(Gaylynn) of Hamlet, N.C. Niece- Annie Bailey Hucks Lexington, N.C. Nephew- Clark Bailey of Lexington, NC. Niece and nephews: C. Byron Deaver 11 (Jenn) of Clayton, N.C. Charles Robert Deaver Jr. of Hamlet, NC, E. Brooke Deaver Hilton (Lex) of Rockingham, N.C. Johnathan Brent Deaver (Nicole) of Ellerbe. Brittney Lynn Deaver of Hamlet, Thomas Allen Deaver(TAD) of Hamlet, NC. Great niece and nephews: Sailor Jayde Hucks, Caden Jay Hucks, Ella Rae McCoy all of Lexington, Austin Cole Deaver, Rylan Embry Sells, Aiden Russ, Trinity Russ Johnathon Braxton Deaver, Declan Thomas Deaver, Bailey Marie Hilton, Paisley Lynn Sewell, Zane Allen Deaver, Beau Byron Deaver, Harper Bryn Deaver, Samuel Lexington Hilton. Special Aunt: Peggy Bailey Bates spent special time on the phone discussing current events, family info and their daily activities. He loved her so much. Many other family members including cousins that meant so much to him. His mother in law Barbara C. Deaver was so special to him. He loved her and she loved him. They enjoyed their snacks and activities and movie time together as well as sitting on the front porch! Other special people in his life that meant so much and stood by him: Late brother-in-law C. Byron Deaver of Hamlet, late James Synder Jr. of Lexington. Phillip Bibb- PA who always listened to him and helped Wilmington N.C. Tommy Childers who he loved dearly and wife Gay.; Mitchell G. Taylor Sr. of Hamlet, NC who shared being a dad to their children Jennifer and Mitchell Jr. whom he loved so much. Jay Childers and Mike Childers who made him feel welcome from the beginning.

He loved his church family. Ministers Mike Queen, Jim Everette, Jim Baldwin, Linda Collins, and Sunday School class and many others for always being there with visits, calls, prayers, long conversations, cards, letters and food. In the few years of not being able to attend church they kept him up and informed him, feeling like he still was a part of the church. We have all been blessed by their care!

Mr. Bailey loved spending time reading his bible, doing anything with his family and friends. Loved listening to his music, space launches and more, movies, following weather and storms. He also loved trains, watching airplanes at the airport, fishing, shooting pool, traveling, the ocean and spending time with his granddaughter and the cats and pet hawk- Henry and Jack the hamster. Making something for any reason. He loved UNC Tarheels Basketball and eating Lexington BBQ!

Most of his life he donated and volunteered to help others. Also he was a part of the Jaycees before leaving Lexington. Other volunteering at his granddaughters school.

Mr. Bailey-(Papa’s) heart belonged to his granddaughter Elizabeth-Ann Juliet Thomson. He had a heart of gold. Memorials made to Elizabeth-Ann J. Thomson’s college fund at the State Employees Credit Union(SECU) account ending 0770.
