Lena Mae Lanier Presnell October 29, 1936 - October 14, 2023
(October 29, 1936—October 14, 2023)

Lena Mae Presnell, 86, of Lexington, transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 14, 2023, with her family by her side. A resident of Lexington her whole life, Lena Mae was born on October 29, 1936, to the late Robert and Margaret (Pressley) Lanier.

Lena Mae will be remembered for her hard-working, selfless, and giving spirit. Lena Mae was the manager of Lanier Meat Packing for 18 years. Outside of public work, you would always find her cooking or helping others in her community in any way possible. Lena Mae loved cooking with her Aunt Dot, playing softball, crafting, and spending time with her family. Since birth, she was a faithful member of Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church where she also served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and role model to many throughout her life. Lena Mae was known for being outspoken in her convictions, but always combined her words with love, in hopes of helping those around her to be a better person.

Lena Mae is survived by her son, Charles “June” Presnell of Raleigh; daughter, Lisa Dawn Sizemore of Lexington; Son-in-law, Tommy Hedrick; her grandchildren, Dustin Sizemore (Heather), Alena Presnell, and Tori Hedrick; her 7 great-grandchildren, Aria, Silas, Saylor, Sawyer, Zion, Marlee, and Zaylee; her brother, Rick Lanier (Pat); and a host of extended family and friends.

Lena Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margaret Lanier; her loving husband of 64 years, Len; daughter, Deborah (Presnell) Hedrick; grandson, T.J. Hedrick; sisters, Shelby Perry, Beatrice Metcalf, and Dianne Lambert (Junior); and brothers, Carlton Lanier and Terry Lanier.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Lori of Hospice of Davidson County and Melissa Swink.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 16, at 4:00 PM at Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church located at 1653 East Center Street Ext., Lexington, NC 27292. It will be officiated by her brother, Rick Lanier. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall, meal provided.

Red was Lena Mae’s favorite color. Please feel free to wear it in her honor.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations be made to Hospice of Davidson County.
