Evander Lynn Chavis April 20, 1962 - August 28, 2023
Evander Lynn Chavis, 61, of Lexington, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center.



A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 2, 2023, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lexington with Rev. Mark Hopkins and Rev. Jerry Groves officiating. Pallbearers include the following: Frank Garrison, David Clay, Wayne Aaron, Randy Bailey, Danny Cartrette, and Scott Sorg. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.



The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.



Mr. Chavis was born April 20, 1962, in Scotland County, to Mr. Lynn Earl Chavis and Mrs. Deloris Lowery Chavis. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church and shared his faith with everyone he met. Mr. Chavis was the owner and operator of ELC Transport and Big Daddy Karaoke. Evander was known for his excellent cooking and grilling. Throughout his life, he also did a lot of traveling with his wife, Sandra, and made friends everywhere they went. Evander will always be remembered as a person who spread joy and put a smile on people’s faces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lynn R. Chavis, Gary “Mickey” Lynn Chavis, and Tony Ray Chavis; and one sister, Sherry Ann Varner.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 17 years, Sandra Lee Garrison Chavis of the home; two stepsons, Denny McCoy (Courtney) of Lexington, and Mark McCoy (Heather) of Lexington; one brother, Jerry Chavis (Kathy) of Lexington; one sister, Antoinette Sellers of Pembroke; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews who were all very special, but he had an especially close relationship with Regina Chavis, Angela Chavis, and Lee Chavis.
