Derek Christian Hammer, Sr., 58, of Lexington passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
A memorial service will be held Saturday July 22, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with family members speaking, and military honors to follow. Family will visit with family and friends follow the service. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome
Derek was born on April 9, 1965, in Richmond, Virginia to William Hammer and Kathleen Shultz. He was a chief petty officer in the US Navy for 24 years. He enjoyed smoking meat/barbecuing, online gaming, and watching war movies. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Julie McGaha Hammer of the home; his sons, Derek Christian Hammer Jr, (Ashley) of Virginia, Dustin Hammer (Mikayla) of Louisiana; sister, Lori Alderman; granddaughter, Maisie Hammer and several special cousins.
