Robert Dawson Daniels September 16, 1936 - July 01, 2023
Mr. Robert “Bob” D. Daniels, Sr., 86, of 188 Hope Drive, Lexington, NC, passed away from this earthly life into the eternal presence of God whom he served for many years since being born again in August 1961. For 54 years, Bob was married to Katy (Chris) Harrell Daniels who preceded him in death (deceased November 23, 2012). Bob and Chris had two sons – Robert Jr. (wife Cynthia – deceased April 2017) of Welcome and Todd Brandon (deceased June 28, 1990). Bob was born on September 16, 1936, to Charlie A. and Leatha McDuffie Daniels in Greene County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers – Haywood, Horace, Clifton, John, Franklin, Charles, Curtis, and David, and five sisters – Helen, Hilda, Hazel, Lucy, and Mayme. He is survived by one granddaughter, Michell Curtis. He has several nieces and nephews surviving him.

Bob graduated from Hookerton High School, in Greene County, NC in 1954. After graduation, he served eight years (1954-1962) in the US Air Force. Following Basic Training at Lackland AFB, Texas, his service included time in three major stateside units: 37th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Ethan Allen AFB, Winooski, Vermont; 482nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron and 4th Tactical Fighter Wing, both at Seymour Johnson AFB, Goldsboro, NC. His foreign duty was with the 314th Air Division, Osan AFB, Korea (1957-1958).

Bob was a born-again Christian since 1961. Led by God, he accepted an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force in 1962, to study at Piedmont Bible College (Currently Piedmont International University), in Winston-Salem, where he graduated in 1967 (Scholastic Achievement – Delta Epsilon Chi with a ThB Degree which was a five-year degree program in Theology). He continued his education at Guilford College, Greensboro, NC, and graduated in 1969 (BA Degree in History). He did graduate studies in History at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, Continuing his studies, he graduated from Piedmont Baptist College in 2003 (Summa Cum Laude – MA in Biblical Studies). Bob taught World History for eight years at PBC in an Adjunct Professor capacity.

Bob was employed by Wachovia Bank for thirty-six years (1962-1998). He worked in several areas of the bank, but primarily in the Operations Department until his retirement in September 1998 as a Vice President.

Bob served the Lord Jesus Christ in several local churches, variously, as a Deacon, Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, and Christian School Board Committee as Treasurer. For many years, he has dedicated himself to the Lord in service to honor Him in whatever capacity he was chosen to serve. Bob loved his Lord and His Church and he served Him faithfully and consistently.

His funeral service will be held at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, 600 Reedy Creek Baptist Church Road, Lexington, NC on July 10, 2023, at 1:00 pm. The family will receive family and friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Presiding over the service will be Pastor Ben Farrell. Military honors will be observed. Internment will follow in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 3250 High Point Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reedy Creek Baptist Church or to a charity of your personal choice.
