John Frederick Poetzinger July 17, 1936 - November 18, 2022
Dr. John Frederick Poetzinger, Jr, 86, formerly of Lexington, died Friday, November 18 at Accordius Health in Lexington.



A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, December 10 at Forest Hill Memorial Park, by the Rev. Elizabeth Horton



The family will receive friends following the graveside service.



Dr. Poetzinger was born July 17, 1936 in Ohio to John Frederick Poetzinger Sr. and Eunice Slusser Poetzinger. He retired from Davidson County Community College where he was a professor and later taught at High Point University. He served in the US Army Reserves and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. His wife, Brenda A. Poetzinger preceded him in death.



He is survived by his daughter, Susie Smith (John) of Lexington; his sons, Robert “Bob” Poetzinger of Florida, and James “Jim” Poetzinger of Connecticut; his step-sons, Daryl Page (Alana) of Virgnia, and Dale Page (Jackie) of Kernersville; his sister, Betty Shumaker (Don) of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Jonathan Kepley, Connor Poetzinger and Grace Poetzinger Terrin (Gabe); his step-grandchildren, Jessica Page Callahan (Mason) and Meadow Raelynn Page; and step great-grandchild, Braylee Callahan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292 or to Davidson County Community College Foundation, PO Box 1287, Lexington NC 27293.
