Dale Greenwald October 27, 1944 - September 23, 2021
Marion “Dale” Greenwald, 76, a resident of Lexington, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 in Lexington Medical Center.
Dale was born on October 27, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Marion Frank and Lillie Wynn Greenwald. He loved supporting his community by being an avid firefighter with Griffith Vol. Fire Dept. for many years. He also had a competitive side and tried his hand in various sports. The first one was Archery, which the family traveled every weekend all over the state so he could compete in tournaments. His next adventure was go-kart racing. This also led the family all over the state with many times watching the sun come up because of winning the race and being protested. He may have hung up his helmet but not his love for racing, he had to watch #3 every Sunday. If it wasn’t Nascar it was football. He enjoyed most of all hunting and fishing, these were his true loves. Being in nature brought him peace of mind; he would sit and journal for hours the sights, sounds, and smells of his surroundings- it was more than just a sport to him. Dale was not only a father, stepfather, husband, and Pappy but a friend to many. He loved his children and grandchildren and spent time supporting their passions. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan and second wife, Julie; a sister, Kay McNeill; a stepdaughter, Patty; and special friend David Ryggs.

Dale’s wishes were to be cremated. A private service will be held at a later date.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Angela Gautier (Robert) of Pinnacle; stepchildren, Terri, Becky, Debbie, and Phil; a sister, Pam Wilhelm (John); grandchildren, Megan Russell (Corben), and Cody and Harlow Gautier; fourteen step-grandchildren; twenty-five step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Dale’s family would like to thank his friends and neighbors, Brenda (David) Ryggs, Tony & Debbie Gaither, for their friendship with Dale and their support in his care over the years.

In Dale’s famous last words:
“If you’re dumb, you gotta be tough”
