| Jo Ann Garner Shaw Davis May 26, 1936 - June 14, 2025 |
Jo Ann Garner Shaw Davis, aged 89, of Denton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the home of her daughter. Born on May 26, 1936, in Davidson County to Joe Alpha Garner and Rillie Hunt Garner, Jo Ann lived a life full of love and dedication to her family and work.
She spent her career in the textile industry as a seamstress, retiring at the age of 70. Jo Ann had a passion for gardening, whether it was tending to vegetables or flowers, and she also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Max Cranford Shaw, her second husband Charles Percy Davis, Jr., her son Jeffrey Max Shaw, her sister Louise Pierce, and her brothers C.F. Garner, Ashley Garner, and Sidney Garner.
She is survived by her loving daughter Cherry Yates and her husband Jerry Summey of Denton; her grandson Andrew Yates and his wife Veronica; her great-grandson Oliver Yates; her brother Barry Garner and his wife Mary Ann of Lexington; and her sisters Sue Ramsey and Wanda Lanning, both of Denton.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 18, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Darrell Summey officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
