Barry Keith Brown July 11, 1956 - November 27, 2022
Barry Keith Brown, 66, of Rothrock Road, Lexington, NC died on Sunday, November 27, 2022, surrounded by his family, at his home, after a very brief illness.

Barry was born in Lenoir, NC to the late MT “Bud” Brown and Margaret Hinson Brown. He grew up in Lexington and attended Lexington Senior High School, Davidson County Community College, and University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where he spent many carefree years of his young adult life.

Barry was an Enrolled Agent and Tax Accountant by profession. He began work with his father, MT, in his father’s Tryon NC practice, and then established his own practice, The Brown Companies, LLC dba Brown Accounting & Tax in Tryon/Columbus NC, where he practiced for 35 years until his illness.

Barry and his wife, Jo Stephenson Brown, raised their three daughters in Tryon NC, the community that Barry so enjoyed.
Barry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jo S Brown of the home; daughters: Emily Sales (Matt) of VA, Meredith Brown (Vance) of SC, Alison Brown (Weston) of UT; grandsons: Grady and Henry Sales of VA; siblings: Jeff Brown and Libby Young (Tony) both of Wilmington NC, and Lynn Andreas (Mike) of Apex NC; as well as his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Barry spent his days gardening, reading, laughing, listening to music, and telling old (and new) jokes.

Per Barry’s request, no services are planned.

An outdoor gathering in celebration of his life will be held in the spring/summer when enjoying the outdoors, that Barry himself enjoyed so much of his life, can occur.

In his final days, Barry wanted all to know that, to quote one of his favorite books… “I thought up an ending for my book: ‘And he lived happily ever after, unto the end of his days.’”

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to: Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292; The Gastric Cancer Foundation, Administrative Office, 14600 Western Parkway, Cary NC 27513; or WNCW- 88.7 Public Radio, Isothermal Community College, 286 ICC Loop Road, Spindale NC 28160.
