| Charles Lindsay Long April 10, 1941 — December 20, 2025 Advance |
Charles Lindsay Long, 84, of Davie County, passed away Saturday evening, December 20, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House.
There will be a graveside service at Sandy Creek on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Charles was born on April 10, 1941, in Davie County, to the late Charles Gwynn Long and Fannie Ada Grubb Long. He retired from Billings as a mechanic but is remembered for having a natural talent at any job he worked. A “Jack of all Trades”, Charles was always ready for the next challenge to learn a new skill, whether it was woodworking, electrical, construction, or roofing.

Being a hard worker wasn’t the only area in which he excelled. He also had a passion for hunting and fishing and would spend as much time outdoors as possible, enjoying the calm of the woods and water while waiting for the perfect catch or shot.
His best attribute, however, was his heart. The attention he gave and the time he spent with his family were the most cherished moments he held. The devotion he had for his wife, Carol, and the guidance he gave to his daughter and grandchildren were a legacy that will be carried on for generations.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Baker Long; brothers, Steve Long and Phillip Long; and sister, Gwendolyn Lanier.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Rebecca Colbert (Lynn), of Advance; grandchildren, Melissa Rose (John), Curtis Colbert Jr. (Samantha), Dustin Colbert, Josey Colbert, and Hank Colbert; great grandchildren, Tanner (Brooke), Maddie, and Hunter Rose (Kyleigh), and Brooklyn, Calleigh, and Wyatt Colbert; and one great-great grandchild, Stetson Rose.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, at Donate | Trellis Supportive Care
