Archie Travis Nifong December 21, 1936 - November 09, 2023
Archie Travis Nifong was born in the Welcome community of Davidson County to Robert “Buck” Nifong and Mary Leonard Nifong. He graduated from North Davidson High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Army where he served our country during the Korean War. Upon his return, he went to work for R.J. Reynolds in 1958 and retired with 32 years of service. He was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church and over the years served as Treasurer, Deacon, and on weekly visitations. Archie loved God and family, his country, and sharing his garden with family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Wayne and Terry Nifong, and sister Jerri Scism.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Betty Berrier Nifong whom he married in 1959, 2 children daughter Lori Beard and son, Alan Nifong (Shannon), his pride and joy his grandchildren, Kyle Beard (Whitney), Kasey Byrd (Robbie) and Austin Nifong, 6 great-grandchildren, Suri, Silas and Shepard Beard and Kori, Nolan and Jillian Byrd, brother, George Nifong, and sisters Gaynell Brown, Carol Mason (Ronnie), numerous and special nephews, nieces and their families, extended family and friends that were like family.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Bayada Nursing for their care of Archie.

Memorials may be made in Archie’s name to the Building Fund at Union Grove Baptist Church or to Gideons International.
The staff at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel is honored to be serving the Nifong family during this difficult time.
