Robert Edmund Butler May 21, 1938 - November 09, 2023
Robert E Butler, 85, of Davidson County, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital with his daughter, Barbara, at his side.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at Emanuel Wesleyan Church (555 Old Hargrave Rd. Lexington, NC 27295), with Pastor Darby Gaither officiating.

Burial with military honors will immediately follow the service at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening, November 14, 2023, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

Robert was born in Jefferson, Iowa, on May 21, 1938, to the late Seth and Clara Butler. He joined the United States Air Force after graduating high school, and proudly served his country in Vietnam. He married his wife of 57 years, Betty Ann Coppley Butler on November 16, 1958. Robert retired to Lexington with his family after 23 years of service, then went on to work for Lexington Furniture for 29 years before retiring. He traveled extensively, having gone to 18 countries and 45 states.

Robert was known to love Gunsmoke, The Atlanta Baves, bird watching, and most of all his family. He was a member of Emanuel Wesleyan Church where he served as a greeter where he passed out bulletins and rang the church bell.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty on November 13, 2015, and brothers, Richard, and Bill Butler.

His memory is cherished by his son, Robert Butler Jr., his daughters Barbara Butler, and Debbie Lucas; and his brothers Don and Steve Butler.
His love is also carried on by his grandchildren, Bobby Butler, Jessica Smith, Robert S. Butler, Matthew Lucas, Ryan Lucas; and three great-grandchildren, Kaiden Butler, Riley Smith, and Justin Smith Jr.

Barbara and her family would like to give special thanks to Gene Walker, Pastor Daby Gaither, Nelson and Sherri Beeker, and members of Emanuel Wesleyan Church for their help and support during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emanuel Wesleyan Church.
