Patricia Hargette Phillips August 16, 1941 - November 05, 2023
Patricia DeViolet Hargette Phillips (Ms. Pat), 82, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Celebration of life will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Candor, NC, Sunday, November 12, at 2pm with visitation beginning at 12:30pm. Burial will follow in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, musician, piano teacher, choir director, and friend. She was born August 16, 1941, in Monroe, NC, the daughter of Hurley and Carol (Dorman) Hargette. As a preteen, she began serving the Lord by playing the piano in her home church, Faulks Baptist Church in Marshville NC, as well as other churches in Union County. After marrying Jack Phillips (Preacher Jack) in 1963, she faithfully served alongside her husband in the churches that he pastored. Her ministry involved developing and leading church choirs, special music, and individual piano instruction. Her passion was training the next generation of musicians to serve the Lord. The Lord allowed Preacher Jack and Mrs. Pat to pastor Candor Baptist Church in Candor, NC; Ebenezer Christian Church in Raleigh, NC; Grace Chapel Christian Church in Sanford, NC; and in 1976, they planted Tabernacle Baptist Church in Candor, NC, where she served 44 years.
She is survived by her son Chris Phillips (Dawn); her daughter Sherri Free (Michael); seven grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren; two sisters; Dorane Benton of Casar, NC and Dawn Bennett of Black Mountain, NC.

Those who wish to remember Ms. Pat in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Tabernacle Baptist Church PO Box 400, Candor NC 27229 or online/text tbccandor to 888.444.8774 and note “Ms. Pat”.
