Jean Biesecker Brown December 19, 1933 - September 08, 2023
Jean Biesecker Brown, 89, formerly of Lexington, NC, passed away September 8, 2023, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. Jean was born in Lexington on December 19, 1933 to Charlie Guy and Frances Carrick Biesecker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles “Bobby” Biesecker of Midway, and brothers-in-law Roy Gandy and Larry Tesh, both of Lexington.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service, and a private entombment will follow Monday at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Surviving is her faithful husband of 71 years, J. Lewis Brown of Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. She is also survived by her four children: Lisa Samuel (Joe) of Linville and Larry Brown (Kim), Janet Monk (Rick), and Lynda Currier (Joey), all of Lexington. She leaves behind grandchildren Jordan Samuel (Brittany), Leigh Blaylock (Wes), David Monk, Taylor and Lauren Currier and Kevin Brown (Jessica), Amy Deremer (Chris), Nathan Monk (Allison), and Josh Monk. Her surviving in-laws include sisters-in-law Dorcas Biesecker of Midway, Laura Nifong of King, Dana Gandy and Jeannie Tesh of Lexington; brothers-in-law R.L. Gandy (Kaye) and Harold Gandy (Treva) of Lexington. Jean was also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Lexington Senior High School in 1952, Jean worked for Davis Chevrolet. She later joined Arnold Weaver’s CPA firm and remained there after the firm was sold to Harold Myers. She then joined the Pit Stop Convenience Store Chain owned by Dewey Link, continuing her accounting career, qualifying as an Enrolled Agent able to represent her clients before the IRS. She was a dedicated employee and earned the respect and admiration of her co-workers.
Her skills with the decimal point were legendary. She took all that she learned at the CPA firms and started her own business. Hundreds of Davidson County residents trusted and relied on her for their accounting and tax needs. They looked forward to their annual visits, not just because they knew she would get their taxes right, but for the friendly chats to catch up on life.

Jean met the love of her life Lewis at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington when they were teenagers. Jean’s family had been members of Sheets for generations, but Lewis’ primary reason for attending was getting to know Jean. Lewis joined the Navy when he turned 18 and married Jean at Sheets midway through his four-year Navy stint in 1952. The marriage stood the test of time for 71 years, resulting in four children and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean and Lewis were active members of Ralph Starr’s Sunday School Class at Sheets. She helped prepare the meals for the Missionary Conference and organized the annual outings to Linville Land Harbor, where their class enjoyed sharing stories and great food.

Jean enjoyed going on cruises, trips across the country including ones to the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls, and one unforgettable trip to the Holy Land. After Lewis built a house on High Rock Lake in the late 60’s, the Browns and their family and friends spent nearly every summer weekend on the water. High Rock Lake ultimately became a destination for the Brown’s extended family, where Jean celebrated special occasions with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as recently as July.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the wonderful staff at Piedmont Crossing and the Hospice staff for their dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations made to Hospice of Davidson County, (200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292) and Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter, (4600 Park Road, suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209).
