Irvin Albert January 04, 1928 - August 28, 2023
Mr. Irvin Wise Albert Jr. 95, formerly of Country Club Blvd, died Monday, August 28, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.



A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday, August 31at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Mason Todd. A private burial will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park.



The family will receive friends following the funeral service.



Mr. Albert was born January 4, 1928 in Pulaski County, VA and raised in Staunton, Virgina to Irvin Wise Albert and Ola Thornton Albert. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Japan after the war and was a graduate of National Business College in Roanoke, Virginia, where he played baseball. He served as President of Billings Transportation until his retirement and was an active member of New Hope Presbyterian Church as long as his heath allowed.



His wife, Betty Peters Albert, and his brother, Earl Albert (Ruth), preceded him in death.



He is survived by his son, Michael Albert (Faith) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Marcus Albert (Caroline) and Andrew Hamlin (Elizabeth), and his great-grandchildren, Easton Albert, and Katherine, Warren, and Weldon Hamlin.


Mr. Albert loved all sports, but especially baseball and softball in his earlier days. He and his wife were avid Carolina fans and traveled to many games with their friends. He enjoyed his Monday night tennis matches with his friends and bridge every Friday night with his wife and special friends.



In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1334, Lexington NC 27293 or to the J. Smith Young YMCA Youth Program, 119 W. Third Ave, Lexington NC 27292.
