Linda Kay Rudisill October 06, 1943 - November 07, 2023
Linda "Kay" Rudisill born October 6th, 1943, in Forsyth County, NC, passed away comfortably surrounded by her family at her home in Midway, NC, on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023. Never meeting a stranger, she spread so much love and laughter throughout her life. She always said, "I love you" and had to hug everyone before leaving a room.

Kay worked at Western Electric for several years before moving on to AMP/Tyco Electronics where she retired. Throughout the years at both, she met so many amazing people who became more like family than co-workers or friends.

She is survived by her children (including son-in-law) Shelia Cook, Douglas "Whimpy" Stewart, and Ronald "RD" Cook. Her grandchildren Brandy Conrad, Julie Conrad, Zac Conrad, and wife Brittany Conrad, Stacy Cook-Hurd, and husband Zach Hurd. The Great-grandchildren who were the absolute pride and joy of her life, Dylan Swaim, Katelyn Chandler, Madalyn Swaim, Macey Praytor, Connor Cook-Hurd, Ella-Shae Conrad, Noah Cook-Hurd, Zayden Conrad, and Zaylia Conrad. As well as her brothers (including brothers-in-law) Bill "Bubby" Edwards, Steve Harper, and Doug Rudisill. Sisters (including sisters-in-law) Shirley Roberts, Bobbie Jo Harper, Eva Mae Williams, Janet Dinkins, and Donna Galloway.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, best friend, and husband Robert Wayne Rudisill. Her parents, Leroy William Edwards Sr., and Viola Mae Glascoe Edwards. Along with her sisters (including sister-in-law) Mattie "Pat" Compton, Jackie "Peanut" Smith, Rhonda Myers, Margie Wilhelm, Silva Bragg, and Lynn Edwards. And brothers (including brothers-in-law) Richard "Buck" Williams, Harold Roberts, Don Wilhelm, Lonnie Bragg, and Jerry Rudisill.

We would like to welcome everyone to join us this Saturday, November 11th, 2023, from 2:00 PM-5:00 PM at Wallburg Fire Department located at 121 Georgetown Road Winston Salem, NC, 27107 to carry out Kays’ wishes in the form of a Celebration of Life to include great food and good fellowship (by Brandon Wolfe of Wallburg Baptist Church).

Patricia Hargette Phillips August 16, 1941 - November 05, 2023
Patricia DeViolet Hargette Phillips (Ms. Pat), 82, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Celebration of life will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Candor, NC, Sunday, November 12, at 2pm with visitation beginning at 12:30pm. Burial will follow in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery.



She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, musician, piano teacher, choir director, and friend. She was born August 16, 1941, in Monroe, NC, the daughter of Hurley and Carol (Dorman) Hargette. As a preteen, she began serving the Lord by playing the piano in her home church, Faulks Baptist Church in Marshville NC, as well as other churches in Union County. After marrying Jack Phillips (Preacher Jack) in 1963, she faithfully served alongside her husband in the churches that he pastored. Her ministry involved developing and leading church choirs, special music, and individual piano instruction. Her passion was training the next generation of musicians to serve the Lord. The Lord allowed Preacher Jack and Mrs. Pat to pastor Candor Baptist Church in Candor, NC; Ebenezer Christian Church in Raleigh, NC; Grace Chapel Christian Church in Sanford, NC; and in 1976, they planted Tabernacle Baptist Church in Candor, NC, where she served 44 years.

Charles Wade Smith Jr. March 27, 1962 - November 04, 2023
Charles Wade Smith Jr, 61, of Davidson County, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Charles was born on March 27, 1962, in Davidson County, to the late Charles Wade Smith Sr. and Kate Cole Smith. He was multi-talented and was known to be good at whatever he tried. However, Charles was passionate and best at music. From a young age, he played guitar, wrote songs, and composed music. He started as “The Smith Family” singing in church, and his last venture was as rockstar “Chuck Nasty”. His family will remember the music of his guitar as one of their favorite sounds. Charles was also known for his unconventional ideas and great sense of humor which always kept a smile on the faces of his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Danielle Everhart (Nate), of Lexington, and Charles Wade Smith III, of Boulder, CO; sisters, Marlene Chappell (Terry), of Lexington, Katrinka Barnhart (Paul), of Walkertown, Tamra Wood (Curtis), of Advance, and Kathryn Riley (Tel), of Princeton, Canada; grandchildren, Jayden and Mary-Beth Kotarsky; and cousin, Jeffrey “Gabby” Hayes.

Freda Mae Shoaf November 03, 1929 - November 03, 2023
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at Bethesda United Methodist Church, by Revs. Janet Dixon and Darren Everhart. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.



The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the Family Life Center.



Mrs. Shoaf was born November 3, 1929, in Davidson County to Arlie Luther Essick Sr and Girla Lily Kinney Essick. She retired from Western Electric. She was a lifelong member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and The Methodist Women. She directed the children’s choir and served as a children’s Sunday School teacher. She loved her church and faithfully attended as long as her health permitted. She was affectionately known as “Nana” to her immediate family and “The Cake Lady” to her church family.



On May 7, 1949, Mrs. Shoaf was married to Glen Roscoe Shoaf who preceded her in death on February 3, 2018. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Glen David Shoaf in 2021, three sisters, Agnes Adkins, Arwilda Everhart, and Mintie Everhart, and four brothers, Arlie (A.L.) Jr, Winfred, Rueben, Ralph, and Bill Essick.

Marie Bivens HHarris February 12, 1958 - November 04, 2023
Marie Harris age 65 of Gumtree Road passed away November 4, 2023, at K B Reynolds with family by her side.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service.

Marie was born February 12, 1958, in Forsyth County to Andrew Bivens and JoAnn Huff Fulp. She worked as a supervisor at Baptist Hospital. Marie is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Stephanie Harris Logan.

Clint Ray Burnette December 02, 1986 - October 30, 2023
On 10/30/2023, Clint Ray Burnette of Davidson County, age 36, died unexpectedly.

Clint is survived by his parents Marcella Wilfong and Stepfather Dave Wilfong of Tyro and Danny Burnette of Tyro; His wife Jessica Dennis; their children, Makenzy Rae, Hunter Gordon, Haydon Mattix; mother-in-law Sissy Goddard and his beloved pets Luna's and Shadow, Ally, and Babygirl. Siblings April Burnette Freund and Brad and Chris Wilfong. He was preceded in death by Grandparents Dennis and Elsie Burnette and Denny and Mattie Crawford.

Clint loved spending time with his children and had a special love for his pets. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, 11/09/2023 at Madison Heights Free Will Baptist Church located at 214 Andrew Sink Rd, Lexington, NC 27295. Service will begin at 5:30pm with dinner in fellowship hall to follow. The family would also like to invite people for an optional visitation with the family starting at 4:30.
